When I was very young, I learned a key lesson in life from my lunch. I was eating alphabet soup, enjoying myself heartily and--well. To be technical, I wasn't eating it. I was pulling the letters out and spelling them on my napkin. See, I had absolutely no use for the soup as a whole. The simple reason for this?
Alphabet soup tastes horrible. All letters, no substance.
However, recently my father ran out of his usual noodles when he was making beef stew, and so he threw in some alphabets instead. Our family spent the whole night spelling out words on our spoons...and then we ate our stew. It was delicious.
What I'm getting at with this long, drawn-out metaphor is that you need some substance when you're writing (or eating) something. A jumble of letters and pretty words does not a good story make. Put some meat on those bones! Develop your characters and stories, and don't ever give up. Eventually, you'll get a lovely meal. Er--story. ^^''
If you managed to get through the explanation of my username, then I'm very proud of you! If you really just wanted to skip ahead to the bold text, well...I'm okay with that, too. This is the fic journal for
polysamachan, and you're very welcome here!
Please note that all characters (I hope!) bear no resemblance to real people, but that a lot of fannish stories run through here...so they're not all mine! Also, there is a great deal of slash muddling about in here with my gen and het! Please read all warnings before clicking on a story! You have been warned!
